Director’s letter 2026: the long work ahead · Probable Futures
My new director's letter is called "The Long Work Ahead," and it's about the need to redefine what we can hope for in a world already changed by climate. Climate change is no longer a future scenario; the past three years have already averaged more than 1.5°C of warming, and we’re on track to reach 2°C in the coming decades. Yet, our public narratives still focus on "solving" climate change rather than navigating the world we're in and making informed choices about the futures still available to us. Today's reality calls for a new kind of hope—one grounded in science, wisdom, and resilience. At Probable Futures, this is the kind of work we are committed to. This year, we are learning from communities already adapting, communicating risk clearly, and acknowledging loss while helping people prepare for what lies ahead.I hope you’ll read the full letter and join the Probable Futures community as we work to shape positive, realistic, science-informed futures.
