Wm. Gibson on Terrorism

Author William Gibson nearly blows up the world.

From Think Different, a Village Voice interview with William Gibson by Dennis Lim.

Lim: Have you ever left anything out of a book for fear of the real-world implications?
In Idoru, one of the characters had a memory of a terrorist event. It stayed in to the first galleys, but it seemed so workable and media-efficient an idea that I didn’t feel like I could let it out.

What was the idea?
I can’t tell you that.

I have been racking my mind for days, trying to figure this out. The abduction and public torment of a celebrity? 10,000,000 cats with slogans painted on them, released in Hollywood? Something with airplanes? With bombs? With smallpox? I wonder if the CIA will call Gibson, ask him to help them with their readiness campaign. Dammit, what is it?
