We Live Like Kings

Come on, face it.
“We have everything,” I said. “I want entertainment and I turn on the television, and while I am watching one program I can record another. I can eat 30 kinds of food a day, go anywhere I want, and make down payments wherever I go. I have a wallet filled with insurance, credit, and phone cards, and I have receipts for everything. There is a broadband spectrum of choices coming my way like a tidal wave, and pornography everywhere. With three local phone calls I can have sex, drugs, and Chinese food delivered to my door. In the mornings the Witnesses ask me to let Jesus into my heart. This is the best it will ever be. We are living like kings.”
“No,” said Scott. “We are living like assholes. We are living like pigs.”
“Exactly. That's how kings lived.”
