agents
By Paul Ford
An agent is a constructed entity that acts upon data or matter.
Specifically: a piece of code that finds you the best price on socks in emess, a glop of cells that constructs coral pillars below Roosevelt Displacement District (bio), a collection of small molecules that can shave diamond (nano).
Just about everything, anymore, is agents. Everywhere. “Dominant form of life on our planet,” says Dr. Geoff Harliquade.
