Celebrate the real meaning of Groundhog Day.

While many see Groundhog Day as a diverting tradition, the holiday is interpreted differently by various religious, political, and social organizations.

"The current incarnation is a Christian corruption of the original," said Dave Moriarty, founder of the Eastern Pennsylvania Church of Wicca. "The original ceremony, Samhog Day, was a celebration of the light of passion that existed in burrowing animals."

The Wiccan celebration of Samhog Day is "a church secret," said Moriarty, "it involves burrowing, and celebrants dress up in groundhog skins."
